Book Review: "Butter Side Up" By Jane Enright

This is like the 'element of surprise' because you never know what curve ball life will throw your way.

Life is never just black and white as there's numerous shades of grey and this book highlights that idea in a more personal light.

Beginning with a memoir of struggles, deeply touching hospital stays, emails between friends/family, and so much more.

The million dollar question(s) then becomes -What would happen if you encountered a sudden life altering event?

Would you curl up in a ball or would you face your fears and challenge your endless possibilities to change for the better? Would you express gratitude and blessings or become bitter and resentful?

This is the question that many of us now see before us with the pandemic, with so many precious lives being lost daily to this global nightmare, with the recession that was already worsening over the years to this new heightened elevated level of poverty and decline.

How do we find positive when there's so much depression, so much hate, so much anger, and so much stress?

Living a life in fight or flight isn't the new normal yet many of us find that's been the norm for the past several years if not for the newcomers a new awareness of narcissism and the demise of a political party while conjuring up ideas of conspiracies and falsehoods.

How do we overcome all this pain and begin the healing process?

"In this revealing new book-Jane Enright-shows just how quickly life can be altered forever.

surviving three life-altering events in the span of twelve months, losing everything, coming out the other end stronger and more resilient than ever before."

The truth is her humility is so welcoming and inviting. Her sense of humor was extraordinary. She's just an ordinary women who lived a life of hell.

Yet, she forged new ideas, powerful reflections, and triumphed in pain to say, OMG!

OMG- her favorite saying that emphasizes an 'outer' level of thinking from the 'outside in', M- stands for 'mindfulness' and capturing the moment, while the G- takes us back to being grateful and counting those blessing with an abundance of gratitude.

This was a quick read that covered roughly 70% memoir with the latter focusing on incorporating OMG into your daily practices and going outside your comfort zone.

The way in which we were moved to tears between her emails and her thoughts vs. the current situations at hand were so touching.

This books will challenge your train of thought from one of remorse, blame, shame, even from the depths of despair to one of hope, light, salvation, and redemption.

I'm grateful to have been provided this opportunity to receive this glorious new read from Jane and look forward to seeing what more she has to offer her audience.
