Book Review: "The Project" By Courtney Summers

Even broken crayons color...

This was so heartbreaking with Lo being at the center of this nightmare while Bea her sis is struggling to find herself in this cult like atmospheric group -The Unity Project.

What's deeply disturbing is Arthur lost his son 23 yo Jeremy to suicide via train tracks and blames this cult for his death claiming they killed his son.

Ironically, Lo just joined this magazine (SVO) with founder Paul Tindale as his assistant. She had no idea this would lead to a resurrection of sorts in finally uncovering the truths about this organization and locating Bea to bring her home.
Will she make it in time to do both?

Will more deaths be upon them all?

"Give and it will be given to you" - Luke 6:38

Truth shall set you free.

Lev's the leader of this madness yet Mr. Warrent isn't up to much discussion. He feels as though he's superior and God like in his abilities. Should you disagree you may just find yourself in grief and suffering. Nobody turns him away.

He's rather controlling and lacking in empathy and compassion. He's also not much for remorse after we learn the demise of Bea.

This books timeline goes from the past to the present re-visiting 2017/2018 and underlying several key points. Such as Lev's upbringing, Lo Denham's past scars and her healing process, Bea's daughter Emmy and her NICU stay. So much say that the author notes about the NICU via Lo's parents description of her birth ," It's a special kind of hell where the waxen, devastated faces of new parents stand over incubators to witness firsthand the fragility and unfairness of life."

I couldn't agree more it's a hell like not other especially flying about solo with a newborn as unwed mother for first time birth after two months stay including Ronald McDonald house which was like a prison.

I digress in addition to the above we also have the reality check of all things LEV: "I saved you once. I will save you again. Accept your atonement" as he notes to Bea.
...We'll leave it to God.

Oh, boy trouble is on the horizon and I can't think of anyone better to steer the ship than Courtney Summers.

A masterful piece of work here that I highly recommend.
Thank you to Courtney for this ARC that I received October 27h and was finally able to get to it this afternoon.

My only wish is that I was able to clear out 200 plus ARCS to read it sooner.

An amazing new read that I hope all of you get to enjoy!
