Book Review: "The Dirty South" By John Connolly

Small town politics with big time murders!

Welcome to Cargill where corruption is our game with dirty money as our middle name.
This truly gives new meaning to pay to play schemes but in this case several women have lost their lives.

The clock ticks as the murderer is out there and must be caught!

Fear dominates the headlines as the clues to these bizarre killings catch the eyes of many including the former NYPD detective Charlie Parker.

Parker is no stranger to drama having lost his wife and child as he searches in vain for the killer.

My word these characters including the Reverend Nathan and his secret lifestyle and the biological relationships between Tilon Ward and Hollis Ward were so beneficial and jarring.
Evan Griffin hired Parker while Tilon became an associate of Pruitt Dix and now has a new title, that of Suspected Criminal!

With all this going on we have several people on the bad guys side dropping like flies? Insurgence from within?

Utter destruction is everywhere with booby traps, shots fired, and dramatic endings.
My heart is still pounding from this one as we run through rural areas seeking evidence and my word I'll never look at a garage again the same way.

The meth is plentiful and the drug dealing for the insider's club may just be the start of this madness.

Three black girls are dead. No answers provided. Clues involve sticks placed in private areas.
Gross, Disgusting, and Downright CRIMINAL!

I couldn't help but see similarities to a recent case here in which the woman was found dead near a retention pond after a disagreement with her spouse. She was frozen to death (hypothermia) and it was immediately decided no foul play before an autopsy or toxicology as the spouse claimed she's an alcoholic.

I don't know the end result other than the autopsy claims no foul play resulted. No toxicology to report.

It's amazing with small towns and political or financial concerns that come into play in this regard for an accurate reading.

What I do know is the son in the Dirty South (Charlie Parker) Series is now suspect and for good reason but does the reasoning stem from abuse he suffered or something far deeper?

This was a heart pounding non-stop action packed thriller that I highly recommend.
