To ponder the meaning of life you must get entrenched, soak up the sun, and find your way to the battle zone. Fight like hell! Get in their and fight!
This has some eerily reminiscent scenes that sadly remind me of our current Patriots as they which to be called trying to overthrow democracy at our Capitol. However, I'll discuss the power of the drones and the explosives another time because there's more than shrapnel falling from the sky killing off those guarding the most important locations in history.
What we have to come to realize is that Mark Greaney is the King of Thrillers. I've not read many books that tickle my fancy as his have done with each and ever read.
The militaristic style, the American patriotism, the Fight or Flight responses, the spyware, the guided intel and black ops it's just mind blowing from all angles.
I must warn readers that this is explosive and may trigger those who are sensitive. In addition, this is complex, mysterious, intriguing, and darn right -DANGEROUS. So, make an effort to set aside some valuable time to soak it all up, take names, note locations, and know what team you're on because by the end you'll want to Kick ASS with Court and Zoya and never turn back!
Speaking of which things are heating up between these two but when your life and neck is on the line the embers are sizzlin' hot!
When I read novels like Gray Man it's for the entertainment value but also for the writing style and this has both of those readily available with intriguing cast of characters set to take you away to Berlin, Europe, Russia, and D.C. respectively.
It's quite frankly RELENTLESS -because I could barely catch my breath in between the hot action shoot outs and the dangerous sneaky missions including snipers, drones, surveillance techniques, spyware activity, and explosive jolts to the soul.
My word how this author manages to fit it all into one jam packed novel is extraordinary which makes this a true honor and blessing to obtain this early release.
As many of you know I'm know stranger to these types of black ops -war torn-militaristic thrillers. I'm also (no surprise) a former member of the Mitch Rapp Ambassadors so for those guys and gals this is right up your alley. TRUST ME!!
I'll make an effort to lay it all down for you but this was so glaringly on point that I probably won't do it the justice it deserves but hang in there. Here we go....
Intelligence ops are disappearing.
Clark Drummond -is the TARGET- as he's working with Venezuelans and he's also the missing American agent.
Court Gentry (Gray Man) is a private freelance assassin whose just been provided orders to bring him in (Dead or Alive).
A team of assassins has a different course of action planned which rubs Court and Zoya the wrong way putting their lives in danger.
FYI: Stephanie Arthur aka Zoya Zakharova is a Russian Foreign Intelligence Service who joined their Shrike Group with good old Ric Ennis and Hanley.
Matt Hanley is the CIA Deputy Director whos also on this case.
Technically, Ric is now her boss paying her to be the 'hidden asset.'
Meanwhile, Suzanne Bower sent her there.
The target was shot 3x and this Shrike International Group (private sector) has ownership in Europe for the sole purpose of hiring the best intels.
You do realize Israel spying on Iran. Jerusalem is trying to draw Iran to war with the West.
Ok, this reminds of some other orange guy but I digress.
Now, we have Anthem aka Zoya as the newest case officer and Court whose taken quite a liking to her in more ways than just protective in nature.
However, who the hell just killed Ronnie Blight?
Spangler may just be a spy , Gray Man's now involved, and the nation is under attack.
Perimeters are set up, blockades are set, gates are up and with each turn of the page I feel like January 6th is replaying on a loop with check points and heavily armed National Guards sleeping at our most important residences and Capitol buildings all across the nation.
As this plays out people are dropping like flies.
So much is happening all around even with room service carts in hotels that I don't know what balcony to hang from anymore but hell neither does ZOYA.
Speaking of which this Russian bombshell of a brunette must be monitored because shiite's about to hit the fan.
Whose got her back? Inna's sending out messages that they won't kill the daughter of a General so I guess that might quell the blood trail for now ...Yet, the fact that sleeper cells are on the move should alarm everyone especially those in Europe.
Iranian government may find their a ploy being used as a set up for a grander scale to more attacks.
Find me ZOYA- STAT!!! Damn it!!
Ok, she's using Ennis to crawl her butt up the food chain...How sweet it's my friends.
Court is pissed or shall I say feeling the wrath of emotions including jealousy.
"Powerslave" is on the radar as a biometric tool for identifying facial recognition on camera feeds.
Heck, the master key is being used to expose all kinds of spooks and operators much like the FBI tools being utilized to bring 'em all down to the station. Hide the darn cells -oh wait- too late. Ping towers got ya good. Map 'em up boys! Burners not even discussed.
Mr. Greaney has created a wonderful series with this gem being the 10th of this magnificent killer series.
Holy smokes! He's on fire! There's no time like the present to place that order and get it while it's hot.
I'd highly recommend pre-ordering this beauty and adding it to your TBR!
An imminent threat is upon us all and I pray it's uncovered much like what we have here because sometimes they come from within and sometimes they operate externally.
The truth lies somewhere in between...
Hats off to Mark Greaney as I'm absolutely floored by his writing, his ability to command your attention, his luxurious expertise, and his knowledge of this subject matter for which I literally felt like a part of the front line members in the trenches and on the ground with fly overs, tactical units, and hidden spies all around me.
This was wonderful and very deserving of every accolade that it will surely receive.
Thank you Mark Greaney, Berkley Publishing, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
