Book Review: "Empaths and Narcissists" By Judy Dyer

As a starter kit this would be fine but for those with more experience in the field it was too generalized.

Empaths like myself know how to channel the energy, the ebb and flow, the ability to set boundaries and create a path forward in utilizing a gift.

That gift is embracing the feelings, emotions, and energy expelled from others but to not fall into the trap of becoming depleted and exhausted in the process.

While being a caring empath devoted to helping others is noteworthy it's also seen as a crutch for abusers to utilize against them making them the 'ultimate targets.'

It's the belief that everyone has 'goodness' that can get us in trouble quickly especially when empaths may have been subjected to prior abuse, harbor low self esteem, or feel inadequate with themselves in not knowing how to process all these wonders around them.

Practical tools, guidance, and support is offered throughout that outlines the path of the empath and the emergence of the self.

Narcissists are often spotlighted for vanity and selfishness but they are well known for their ability to become deceitful, trustworthy, and confident.

They are able to brainwash, gaslight, manipulate, and trick even the best of the best.
It's best to become knowledgeable on narcissists and the mind games and tactics that they use to protect oneself from future harm especially for empaths who may become co-dependents.

Terms such as projection, mirroring, love bombing, triangulation, co-dependency, hoovering, and more are just a few I'd recommend.

While this was a great intro it could use more follow up with more explicit and concrete terms and definitions to enforce the concept and bring it home.

Thank you to Judy, the pub, netgalley, and amazon kindle for this ARC.

Narcissists are dangerous and not to be taken lightly.

Believe that you can empower yourself and stay educated as the pen is mightier than the sword.
