Imagine you're in the prime of your life yet you feel empty.
Posy is our main character who feels in a sense lost, empty nester, no husband, no romance, nothing to truly make her feel anchored and whole in life.
Enter a new dilemma: A family home is in need of some TLC and if she can't find a buyer soon it may bring her to financial turmoil.
As if this isn't enough hard ache she's informed of a past-her own father's-who has forgotten to mention he was once arrested for a crime of passion.
Wait-what?
Posy was only 8 yo when it happened but imagine growing up and not knowing the truth.
The butterfly room is where it all went down but ironically nobody knew till now because the penalty was swift and severe.
The author does a fine job in bringing to light another crime of passion this in the case of domestic violence and abuse.
Sam and Amy are part of this love triangle gone wrong and are in need of severe counseling if not complete separation.
Sam however is no stranger to this story as he is Posy's son which makes the situation that much harder to process. Nick her other son is the complete opposite working as an antique dealer and very much in control of his life.
The reasons provided for such abuse are also in the spotlight as they include anger management, and an addiction to alcohol.
It seems Posy may be a widow but her first love Freddie never lost hope.
Can these two ever become re-united?
Will the love be just as strong the second time?
Can Amy truly escape abuse and find happiness?
Will the Admiral House be a beacon of shining light once again?
Butterflies stem from cocoons and grow wings for a reason...broken crayons color for a reason...that reason is not hard to find if you're willing to be open and honest and welcome it in.
This was an amazing transformation with all these characters and the title just adds that pop of flavor to entice the senses. The ending on this was superb as it rekindled those burning embers.
Thank you to Lucinda, the pub, NetGalley, and Amazon Kindle for this ARC in exchange for this honest review.
