Book Review: "The Silence" By Susan Allott

Silence can be golden but it also can be deadly and this new work is proof of such a statement.

Here we have a family torn apart by revelations which occurred thirty years earlier in regards to a missing woman named Mandy.

Isla with many personal problems of her own finds herself receiving a phone call from her father whose just been arrested for murder of their neighbor.

Mandy Mallory used to baby sit for the family as her husband was a well respected police officer.

The story of course doesn't end there as there's a whirlwind of accusations and whispers of not only these Aboriginal children but of the whereabouts of Mandy.

Many of these Aboriginal children were subjected to horrific abuse and labeled as neglected, uncontrollable, and destitute as a cover up to further abuse them behind closed doors.

This was a revolting read that opened your eyes to things unseen but also to the underground injustices that occur daily and sadly are unnoticed.

Thank you to Bibliotheca for without which this review wouldn't have been made possible.
