Book Review: "Killers Keep Secrets" By James Huddle

"Wearing an orange jumpsuit and a clear face shield to protect against the coronavirus, former police officer Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. pleaded guilty on Monday to 13 counts of first-degree murder. The string of murders in the 1970s and '80s terrorized California, and the suspect who committed them became known as the Golden State Killer."

This book was released the day after his admittance under oath. 

It's dually noted there were about a dozen additional rape cases he's admitted to but not charged due to time lapse for those charges to be brought to court.

What I took away from this was plenty of pain. 
Whether that pain was because of the unknown or the known but feeling 'taken advantage of' is a different story altogether. I also felt anger, hurt, and intense emotional feelings that became evident in this writing. 

In cases like my own abuse situation -revenge may be sweet-but it comes with years of heart ache, financial constraints, emotional turmoil, and freedom but freedom until extenuating circumstances that couldn't have been foreseen as hindsight is twenty-twenty. 

The sad truth is there are many monsters that appear to be the model citizen of society that are among us even to this day.

They do not wear masks, they're not any different than anyone else in terms of appearance, yet they harbor a deep-dark-disturbing side that is often masked by other issues that aren't recognizable until it's too late.

If only is often the common factor among those left behind...whether it pertain to taking extra precautions, recognizing the faults, or simply being present but unknowingly allow the behavior to continue.

In my case I married a malignant narcissist, sociopath, psychopath and to this day I wonder what if...

Warning signs are present but are difficult to not only see but process when you're in the heat of the moment.

My heart goes out to these victims families and all those affected by these heinous crimes.

It's not easy to move forward when so much was viciously taken away but please note support and help is available.

I pray they all find comfort in celebrating their lives and never forgetting the love rather than the hate that ended those precious lives.
